HUNTINGTON WOODS, Mich. (May 8, 2017) — One Earth Writing CEO & Founder Lynne Golodner was recently named a Fulbright Specialist by the U.S. State Department, serving a three-year term beginning April 21, 2017.
The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and World Learning approves Fulbright Specialists for inclusion on a roster to which institutions from 150 countries turn when seeking experts to lecture, speak and consult on diverse, short-term collaborative projects. Spanning a wide range of professional and academic fields, Specialist projects bring education and training, address institutional priorities and promote beneficial collaborations between American and foreign host institutions. Selected U.S. academics and professionals may deliver seminars or workshops, consult on faculty or workforce development, develop academic or training curricula and materials, lecture at graduate and undergraduate levels and conduct evaluations for programs and institutions.
Last year, Ms. Golodner created One Earth Writing (www.OneEarthWriting.org), a 501c3 public charity focused on connecting and empowering teens from different races, religions and socioeconomic origins through writing workshops. It is on this platform, alongside her success as a public relations professional guiding corporate and nonprofit entities and leaders find and strategically use their unique voices, that Ms. Golodner approaches this prestigious next chapter of her career.
“I believe storytelling and human connection are the answers to questions of disparity, disconnect and disunity,” says Ms. Golodner. “When we dare to put voice to feelings, experiences and dreams, and share that with others in a variety of venues, we build meaningful connections that transform the world. I am honored to do this in other countries with individuals who might not otherwise have the opportunity to explore the way words can transform their lives.”
In addition to her PR and nonprofit work, Ms. Golodner is adjunct faculty in the English Department at University of Detroit.
“The notion of similarity beyond difference has built my career as a writer, a teacher of writing, and an entrepreneur,” she says. “Guiding individuals of all ages to find their voice and understand its power is one of the elements I enjoy most in all the work I do, and when I present it in a context of community, the words transcend the personal to the point of deep meaning for anyone who engages with the text.”
“My deep love of words and story and voice drove me toward becoming a Fulbright Specialist to serve the global community,” she notes. “I am honored that the State Department chose me to add to their roster of Specialists. In this capacity, I will expand the platform I have built, uniting people from diverse backgrounds in word and in thought. I am dedicated to and interested in exploring and identifying new ways in which we can come together and heal divides.”
As a Fulbright Specialist, Ms. Golodner is eligible for grant opportunities of two-to-six weeks in length proposed by institutions around the world seeking experts to round out their offerings and deepen their work.
